1. What Zorvin-KID Syrup is and what it is used for

Zorvin-KID Syrup contains levosalbutamol, a medicine belonging to a group called beta-2 adrenergic agonists (bronchodilators).

Levosalbutamol works by relaxing the muscles in the airways of the lungs. This helps to widen the airways and makes breathing easier.

Zorvin-KID Syrup is used for the treatment of bronchospasm (narrowing of the airways) in patients with reversible obstructive airway diseases, such as asthma from age 6 years.

It helps relieve symptoms such as:

  • Wheezing
  • Shortness of breath
  • Chest tightness
  • Cough due to airway narrowing

2. What you need to know before you take Zorvin-KID Syrup

Do not take Zorvin-KID Syrup if:

  • You are allergic to levosalbutamol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
  • You are taking certain beta-blocker medicines (such as propranolol) unless advised by your doctor.
  • It is being used for threatened abortion during the first or second trimester of pregnancy.

Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Zorvin-KID Syrup if you:

  • Have heart disease, irregular heartbeat, or high blood pressure
  • Have thyroid problems (hyperthyroidism)
  • Have diabetes mellitus
  • Have a history of seizures or convulsions
  • Have low potassium levels in blood
  • Have kidney problems

Your doctor may monitor your condition more closely while you are taking this medicine.

If your breathing symptoms worsen or you need to use this medicine more often than usual, contact your doctor immediately.

Other medicines and Zorvin-KID Syrup
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines.

Particularly tell your doctor if you take:

  • Other bronchodilators or adrenaline-like medicines
  • Beta-blockers used for heart conditions or blood pressure
  • Diuretics (water tablets)
  • Digoxin (used for heart conditions)
  • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO inhibitors) or tricyclic antidepressants
  • Halogenated anaesthetics before surgery

These medicines may interact with Zorvin-KID Syrup.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine. Zorvin-KID Syrup should only be used during pregnancy if the expected benefit outweighs any possible risk to the baby.

It is not known whether levosalbutamol passes into breast milk. If you are breastfeeding, consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Driving and using machines
Zorvin-KID Syrup is not expected to affect your ability to drive or use machines.

3. How to take Zorvin-KID Syrup

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Recommended dose
Children (6 to 11 years):

  • 5 ml (1 mg) three times daily

Adolescents and adults (12 years and above):

  • 5–10 ml (1–2 mg) three times daily

Method of administration
For oral use. Measure the dose using a measuring cup or spoon. Do not take more than the recommended dose.

If you take more Zorvin-KID Syrup than you should
Symptoms of overdose may include:

  • Fast heartbeat (tachycardia), Tremor
  • Nervousness, Headache, Nausea, Dizziness
  • Low potassium levels

If you take too much medicine, seek medical attention immediately.

If you forget to take Zorvin-KID Syrup
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

4. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Common side effects

  • Palpitations (fast or irregular heartbeat)
  • Tremor (especially of the hands)
  • Muscle cramps
  • Nervousness, Headache, Dizziness, Difficulty sleeping
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea or stomach discomfort

Serious side effects (rare)

  • Severe allergic reactions
  • Bronchospasm (worsening breathing immediately after taking the medicine)
  • Low potassium levels in blood

If you experience severe side effects, stop taking the medicine and seek medical help immediately.

5. How to store Zorvin-KID Syrup

  • Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
  • Store below 25°C.
  • Protect from light.
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack.

What Zorvin-KID Syrup contains
Active substance:

  • Levosalbutamol sulphate equivalent to Levosalbutamol 1 mg per 5 ml

Other ingredients: Flavoured syrup base, colour Sunset Yellow FCF
