1. What Zormox-CV Dry Syrup / Forte Dry Syrup is and what it is used for
Zormox-CV Dry Syrup / Forte Dry Syrup contains two medicines: amoxycillin (a penicillin antibiotic) and clavulanic acid (a beta lactamase inhibitor). Together, they kill bacteria that cause infections and prevent resistance.
It is used to treat infections such as:
Sinusitis and ear infections (otitis media)
Tonsillitis and bronchitis
Skin and soft tissue infections
Urinary tract infections
Post operative infections
2. What you need to know before you take Zormox-CV Dry Syrup / Forte Dry Syrup
Do not take this medicine if:
You are allergic to amoxycillin, clavulanic acid, or other penicillin/cephalosporin antibiotics.
You have had liver problems or jaundice when previously taking amoxycillin/clavulanic acid.
Warnings and precautions:
Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems.
Serious allergic reactions (including anaphylaxis) can occur. Seek medical help immediately if you develop rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing.
Diarrhoea may occur during or after treatment. If severe or persistent, contact your doctor.
This medicine may cause fungal or bacterial overgrowth (superinfection).
Other medicines and Zormox-CV Dry Syrup / Forte Dry Syrup:
Inform your doctor if you are taking: Probenecid, methotrexate, or allopurinol, Oral anticoagulants (e.g. warfarin), Oral contraceptives (effectiveness may be reduced)
Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
Use only if clearly needed.
Amoxycillin passes into breast milk and may affect your baby.
3. How to take Zormox-CV Dry Syrup / Forte Dry Syrup
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you.
Take doses at the start of a meal to reduce stomach upset and improve absorption.
Shake the bottle well before each dose.
Treatment should not exceed 14 days without medical review.
Dosage (general guidance):
Children over 2 years:
Mild infections: 25/3.6 mg/kg/day (e.g. 2.5–5 mL twice daily depending on age/weight).
Severe infections: 45/6.4 mg/kg/day (e.g. 5–10 mL twice daily).
Children under 2 years: Dose depends on body weight.
Adults and older children: Dose depends on severity and type of infection.
Renal or liver impairment: Dose adjustments may be required.
If you give too much: May cause stomach upset or convulsions. Contact your doctor immediately.
If you forget a dose: Give it as soon as you remember. Do not give a double dose.
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, Zormox-CV Dry Syrup / Forte Dry Syrup can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.
