1. What is Zorblok-5/10/20 tablet and what is it used for

Zorblok-5/10/20 tablets contain Cilnidipine, a calcium channel blocker used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).

It is used for:

  • Treatment of mild to moderate hypertension
  • Management of hypertension for protection of organs such as heart and kidneys
  • It is useful in:
    • Elderly patients
    • Patients with diabetes
    • Patients with albuminuria
    • Patients with chronic kidney disease

2. What you need to know before you take Zorblok-5/10/20 tablet

Do not take this medicine if you:

  • Have cardiogenic shock
  • Have a recent history of unstable angina or heart attack (MI)
  • Have severe aortic stenosis
  • Are allergic to cilnidipine or any of the ingredients
  • Have heart failure
  • Have low blood pressure (hypotension)

Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you have:

  • Low blood pressure
  • Poor heart function or heart failure
  • Do not stop the medicine suddenly, as it may worsen chest pain (angina)
  • Inform your doctor if you experience chest pain after taking the medicine

Other medicines and Zorblok-5/10/20
Tell your doctor if you are taking:

  • Aldesleukin
  • Quinidine
  • Phenytoin
  • Rifampicin
  • Erythromycin
  • Other blood pressure medicines
  • Anti-psychotic medicines

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

  • Pregnancy: Avoid use as safety data are not available
  • Breastfeeding: Consult your doctor before use

Liver or kidney problems

  • Kidney impairment: No dose adjustment needed
  • Liver impairment: Dose should be started at a lower level and used cautiously

Driving and using machines
This medicine may affect alertness.
Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how it affects you.

3. How to take Zorblok-5/10/20 tablet?

Always take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor

Recommended dose in adults:

  • Start with 5 mg or 10 mg once daily
  • May be increased up to 20 mg once daily if required

Important instructions:

  • Swallow the tablet whole with water
  • Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet
  • Take it at the same time every day

4. Possible Side Effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects.

Common side effects include:

  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Flushing
  • Swelling of legs (peripheral oedema)
  • Tiredness (lethargy)
  • Tremors
  • Palpitations or fast heart rate

Other side effects:

  • Low blood pressure
  • Depression
  • Gastrointestinal disturbances
  • Gum swelling (gingival hyperplasia)
  • Abnormal liver function
  • Eye pain
  • Muscle pain
  • Skin rashes
  • Impotence
  • Rare: transient blindness or cerebral ischemia

5. How to store Zorblok-5/10/20 tablets?

  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Store below 30°C. Protect from light and moisture.
